Clockwork Pursuit
BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover - MIDI files
============================================

Music by Lucas Morris (softwareformusic.com).
Free for personal use and learning.

A short demo of Discover's short, rhythmic techniques: spiccato,
staccatissimo, pizzicato, a tremolo swell, timpani, percussion and
harp.

Key: D minor
Tempo: 140 BPM, 4/4
Length: 16 bars (about 27 seconds, plus the ring-out at the end)
Parts: 17 MIDI files (13 instruments; some use two techniques)

The MIDI folder has one MIDI file for each part. Each file is one
instrument playing one technique. There are no sounds in this
download. The sounds come from BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover, which
you install yourself.

WHAT YOU NEED (both are free)
-----------------------------
1. A DAW. A DAW (digital audio workstation) is the music software you
use to arrange, play back and record music on your computer.
Waveform Free by Tracktion is a free one:
   https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free

2. BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover by Spitfire Audio (VST3 plugin):
   https://www.spitfireaudio.com/bbc-symphony-orchestra-discover
You install it with the free Spitfire Audio App. Then let your DAW
scan for plugins so "BBC Symphony Orchestra" shows up in its list.

The guide that goes with these files explains each step:

HOW TO USE THE FILES
--------------------
Unzip this download first. Open your DAW, load BBC Symphony Orchestra
Discover on a track for each part, and drag each MIDI file onto its
track.

A few tips:
- Set the tempo to 140 BPM before you drag in the files.
- Put each file at the very start of bar 1. Every file starts at
bar 1, even if the instrument comes in later.
- In Discover, pick the instrument, then click the technique.
- In Discover, set MIDI CH to All.
- Wait until the small light (LED) in Discover turns solid green.
That means the instrument has loaded.

Some instruments appear twice because they switch technique partway
through. Give each file its own track and its own copy of Discover,
even when two tracks use the same instrument.

Timpani and Untuned Percussion are both inside Discover's "Percussion"
instrument, and the harp is inside "Harp and Celeste". Load that
instrument, then click the technique.

Staccatissimo may show as "Stacmo" in the plugin, Pizzicato as "Pizz"
and Tremolo as "Trem".
